Privacy policy
Last updated: October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Mittsu Sushi collects through this website, why, and what your rights are. We keep it to the minimum we need.
Who we are
Mittsu Sushi, 21 St Peter's St, Canterbury CT1 2BQ, is responsible for your personal information (the "data controller").
Questions or requests about your information: email info@mittsusushi.com or write to us at the address above.
What we collect and why
| When you… | We collect | We use it to | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ask to be told when online ordering launches, or sign up for seasonal specials | Your email address, which list you joined, and the date | Email you about the list you joined, and nothing else | Your consent. Unsubscribe any time |
| Send a catering or party enquiry | Your name, email, phone number (if you give it), the date and number of people, and your message | Reply to you and arrange your order | To take steps you've asked for before an order (contract) |
| Use a sign-up or enquiry form | Your IP address, briefly | Block spam and repeated automated submissions | Our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure |
| Visit the website | A count of page views and of taps on buttons like "Order on Deliveroo", the website you came from (e.g. Google or Instagram), and whether you're on a phone. No cookies, nothing stored on your device, and no IP address or other identifier is kept | See how many people visit and which buttons they use, so we can improve the site | Our legitimate interest in running the website. If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" signal, nothing is counted |
We don't sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with other businesses for their marketing.
How long we keep it
- Email sign-ups are kept, on our website and in Brevo if we use it, until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you. Once online ordering launches and we've told you, we may delete the ordering-launch list.
- Catering and party enquiries are deleted automatically 12 months after you send them, along with any copy emailed to us.
- IP addresses used for spam protection on sign-up and enquiry forms are kept for no more than one hour. For visit counts, only a scrambled, daily-changing code is used for an hour to stop one device flooding the numbers; the address itself isn't stored.
- Visit counts are daily totals with nothing that identifies you, kept for about a year.
Who can see it
Only Mittsu Sushi staff who manage the website and reply to enquiries. Some service providers are involved:
- Hostinger hosts this website, stores the details you send through its forms, and delivers enquiry emails to our inbox.
- Brevo (an email service based in the EU) may receive your email address so we can send the emails you signed up for, such as a welcome email or seasonal specials. Brevo only uses it on our behalf. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Google Maps opens only if you click "View on map".
- Google reviews and opening hours: any Google reviews and opening hours shown on this site are copied by our server once a day, so viewing them doesn't connect your browser to Google. Clicking a review or the rating takes you to Google.
- Fonts and icons are served from our own website, so no third party is contacted to display them.
- Food Standards Agency: if our food hygiene rating badge is shown, your browser loads it from the FSA's ratings website, which shares your IP address with them.
- Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Tripadvisor: our links to these sites only take you there if you click them. Their own privacy policies apply once you do.
- Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats: the order buttons take you to their websites or apps. Anything you do there, including placing an order, is covered by their own privacy policies, not this one.
Cookies
This website does not use cookies for visitors, and visit counts don't store anything on your device.
The only thing the website keeps in your browser is a small note that you've already seen our specials pop-up, so it doesn't appear again on every page. It's kept only for the current visit (it's deleted when you close the tab), contains nothing about you, and isn't shared with anyone.
Our staff admin area uses one essential cookie to keep staff logged in. If we add analytics or marketing tools in future, we'll update this policy and ask for your consent first.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- correct anything that's wrong
- delete your information
- stop or limit how we use it, or object to us using it
- withdraw your consent at any time (for example, unsubscribe from emails)
Email info@mittsusushi.com and we'll respond within one month. There's no charge.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page if anything changes and show the date at the top.
